Took a cruise out of Galveston with RCCL. Chose RCCL over Carnival expecting better service and food quality for the price. Compared to our experience on comparable Carnival ships wife and I agreed there was little difference.

If you are a light sleeper and/or turn in early, do NOT, I repeat do NOT get an interior room overlooking the Promenade. Our mistake. The music runs after midnight each night and it is loud. I had to sleep with earplugs most nights.

The bed we slept in was extremely hard. Only a step above sleeping on the floor. We've never had this issue with Carnival.

Bed rock hard. No shower gel in shower, just bar soap, but worked.

Noise level pretty bad due to being above Promenade (our fault for choosing).
