The embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly at each point. However, when a new person enters the ship initially, there is no assistance as to what you should do or where you should go. There is no direction or support at the time it is most needed. It is highly recommended that you make your dinner or required entertainment reservations before boarding or as soon as you board, but there is no assistance for this. Even when I asked questions of CSR on the phone prior to our trip, we would get multiple answers that conflicted each other. Either the training is inadequate or the quality of CSRs are less than average. The ship appeared clean, with the exception that in the dining areas, the staff uses rags repeatedly from one surface to another surface. This cannot be sanitary and some of the rags were obviously dirty. We did not travel with children, so I cannot provide any assistance in that arena. I would NEVER want to cruise Norwegian again. In the main dining area, food was constantly recycled for days. For example, there might be grilled fish served one evening, then the same fish appeared in a casserole or asian dish the next day, and then they might put it in a soup the 3rd day. The other way in which this was obvious is from main dining area to "speciality dining". One evening there was seafood in the main dining area. The next evening, we ate at the French restaurant in which a "seafood stew" obviously had old, tough warmed up seafood in it. It was inedible. The speciality restaurants were obviously over priced and definitely not worth it. The maining dining buffet was hit and miss, but we always found numerous things that were edible and enjoyable. The entertainment was at a "free" level. There were comedians, a quartet, etc, and none of it was top notch entertainment. Norwegian tried to nickel and dime you everywhere they could. You pay $14.50 per person per day for tip, but they want more. So, if you order alcohol at the table, they automatically charge a gratuity on the bill. If you eat at a "fine" dining restaurant, they expect an additional gratuity. If you bring your own bottle of wine, they charge a $15 corking fee per bottle. They are gonna get more money from you one way or another. At the French restaurant,my husband ordered striped bass, but was served talapia that was old, dry, and very fishy. My seafood was very fishy and tough. We left and found another venue to eat at. If we would have stayed, the bill would have been around $120. If you want tea, water, soda, then that costs unless you are in the main dining. The worst for us was the UNETHICAL practices in the casino. In the wee hours of the morning, the staff opens the coin/token sweeping machines and they move the cash further away from the edge. If that isn't bad enough, they also place dice (weights) in front of the cash prize to slow down the cash movement towards the edge. They also pulled up felt from a black jack table meticulously measuring over and over until a playing card fit between the felt and table. Then, they put felt back on. When we addressed staff and management, they vehemently denied this is unfair to players and said this is what they do every night. What the hell ? More interesting, they shut down casino before porting any land. This prevents them from paying taxes on earnings, but MORE interesting, it keeps them from any gambling regulations from any country, including the US. One excursion we were interested in was $89 per person for 2 hour tour. We did not purchase it. Once we departed the ship on Roatan, we approached the same company and they said they would do the 2 hour tour for $50 total for the two of us. The rest of the money you pay goes to Norwegian. Shocking. Be aware, if you purchase the alcohol package that the ice bar is excluded, as well as certain "premium drinks." The "special treat" for my birthday was a piece of boxed cake that was served often in the main dining area. We are world travelers and I can say that this was one of the most expensive vacations and for us, it was not worth the money they charge.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Oceanview Stateroom with Large Picture Window

Cabin OB

Mattress was comfortable and the room was adequate. The only complaint I have is the room service. I think it was a communication barrier, but unsure. I asked that no ice be brought. The ice bucket was filled 2x each day. We left a note asking for a couple of items and it was not there. The room was adequately clean.
