We chose this cruise to see what it would be like to be away from home over Christmas and New Year. We really enjoy cruising and this was our 14/15th cruise and unfortunately it was the most disappointing. It was definitely not a bad cruise as we had a great steward looking after us and our cabin. The bed was very comfortable and the food/eating venues and wait staff were very good so our creature comforts were well looked after but just about everything else left a bit to be desired. The flooring in the cabin, in the hallways and the public areas gave the distinct impression that there were floorboards missing and that the carpet was the only thing you were standing on. There was lots of kids onboard as it was school holidays which was no problem but it meant the handrails at the mid and aft stairwells from deck 11 to 14 got rather sticky and didn't seem to be taken care of on a daily basis. The air conditioning in the public areas was set so low that I heard numerous comments about having to move about from area to area to be comfortable and lots of passengers were blaming the AC for the high number of coughs and colds we were suffering. We can't comment on the entertainment as we never attended too many venues but the one theatre show we did see was billed as a modern day opera and was very good. Our biggest disappointments were the embarkation in Singapore on the turnaround day and the long and frustrating waits coming back from shore excursions when local tenders were being used and the quality of some the excursions themselves. As the saying goes "That's X amount of hours I'll never get back" Although the foregoing might sound trivial, when you usually return home 90 to 95% satisfied this one left a lot to be desired but I'm sure our next one will be 100%
