My travelling companion and I had been looking for a Norway experience. When I saw the ad for this cruise, we decided to go. The Viking representative with whom I spoke to book it was most helpful and suggested a guaranteed veranda. Upon receiving our room assignment, we discovered we had been upgraded to a penthouse veranda, thus enjoying some additional amenities. Our cabin steward met us almost immediately and thoroughly explained everything about the room and asked our preferences regarding pillows and bedding. Throughout the cruise, he was readily available if needed. The food at every meal was expertly prepared and the choices were varied. We particularly enjoyed the alternate dining possibilities, especially Manfredi's. The staff at each venue was friendly and courteous. Because of our guaranteed status, we were unable to book shore excursions until such a time that the included ones were not available at optimum times. We would have liked to be able to fit more than one in at a few ports, but had to opt for only the alternate charged choice. The included excursions we were on were all well done and gave a good overview of the area and its history and significance. The quality of the evening entertainment varied, but , for the most part, was enjoyable. We also became acquainted with the fine jewelry representative and, although he was not an employee of Viking, we loved his repartee. This cruise prompted us to book another Viking Ocean experience at a later date.
Comfortable and spacious. We requested separate beds and it did not seem to diminish the area. We appreciated the separate drawers in the bathroom.
