We chose this cruise because we were interested in exploring the breath-taking Norwegian fjords, and crossing the Arctic Circle to see the midnight sun. The ports of call in Norway and northern Great Britain were full of history, adventure, ancient ruins, museums and wonderful walking trails. The focus on the influence of the Viking explorers of a thousand years ago on all the places visited was enlightening. Viking always pays attention to detail, and plans an itinerary that provides lots of culture and education about the places visited. The ship itself is full of quiet little get-away spaces, while at the same time offering great musical selections, many dining venues, and spacious staterooms. It was a trip that I would recommend to anyone who likes exploring new places and actively participating in informative shore excursions, at the same time as being pampered by excellent service and beautiful surroundings. I would suggest starting the itinerary in Bergen, as we did, so that the weather warms up after your return from the Arctic Circle, and improves as you continue south.
