We found out our friends that we hadn't seen for quite a long time were taking this cruise at the recommendation of their friends. We wanted to reconnect, so we signed on about two months before the sailing date, perhaps a little late but we received a discount. This is our fifth cruise, but our first with Norwegian.
The cruise was memorable and served the purpose we had in mind. This is the first cruise we've been on in a while and the first with an Open Dining plan. The food was average to above average, with many choices of cuisine. The service and cleanliness were good at most every venue.
We did two excursions. Both were good and worth the money. It seems the cruise folks have a great working relationship with the folks that do the excursions and make sure that you get the best possible value for your dollar.
Directions to rooms were less than we are used to and confusing. A few more signs might help, along with providing the expected markings on the carpet. We found ourselves walking the wrong way on more than one occasion.
The inside of our room was a bit cramped. At the time of our booking (two months before the sailing date), the best room we could get was the mini-suite. It took us a couple days to get used to it and included things like stubbing toes on the furniture and banging heads on the overhead doors.
We also were made aware of the steward's cleaning schedule by a knock at our door and a statement that told us he had 30 minutes left to clean today. Or something to that effect. Perhaps a sign could be posted somewhere inside the room so passengers can make an educated choice on the topic. Otherwise, the steward was very nice and tried to be accommodating. We loved the towel animals we found every night and truly wish we had had time to take the class on the ship.
