Our embarkation from Basel, as every subsequent thing that occurred on the ship, went like clockwork. This crew had everything down to a science. Even when outside forces threatened to disturb, our cruise director, Valentin Gheorghe, never faltered or lost his smile. Every request was followed up on in a very timely manner and usually granted. All of the crew were very polite and professional and personable. The meals and service were excellent. Food and drinks were very well presented and often. Rooms were kept very clean with very minimal interruption. The cabin was very comfortable and ample in size for our needs. The toiletries in the bathrooms were divine. Avalon does an excellent job of hiring local guides for the shore excursions. Each guide was very knowledgeable and available for questions. Again, any activity was run very smoothly. All of the shore excursions that we participated in were worth it. We were never bored. Every passenger on the ship was treated with respect and with a personal touch. The atmosphere was genial, upbeat and fun. Thank you, Valentin!
