Inaugural cruise even though we had already cruised to Alaska several times, but this was a new experience. Although NCL handled embarkation and disembarkation fairly well, it confirmed in our minds that we prefer smaller ships with more personalized service. We have a balcony suite so were very comfortable with beautiful views every day. The shore excursions were great especially the lumberjack log-rolling in Ketchikan. The Klondike experience reminded us of the hardships that the old 49ers had to endure just to find gold nuggets for only very few lucky ones. So in summary, good new ship, good service, excellent shore excursions, but disappointed that we did not see any calving glaciers like we did on prior trips. NCL does a very good job of presenting great Broadway entertainment shows. Food was above average but although the wrap around lounge with 360 degree views was a nice touch, it was abused by some passengers who considered the lounge to be an extension of their inside cabins and monopolized the spaces to the exclusion of other passengers - NCL please correct.
Comfortable cabin with a large balcony afforded us uninterrupted views of the coast line and glaciers. However sitting out on the balcony in the howling winds was not enjoyable.
The cabin service was excellent with very attentive staff.
Not to be missed especially the first Starbucks shop and beautiful fruit, flowers and veggies on display - fresh!
