With 20+ cruises under our belt we decided to finally try the biggest with Royal's Oasis of the Seas. Some recent reviews were not favorable. We found almost everything wonderful! The staff in every department was friendly and helpful. Room attendant exceptional. The shops in the Prominade were filled with enthusiastic young people that just wanted you to enjoy the cruise. Some reviewers mentioned the age of the ship and maybe in need of some work (kinda like me). We have been on one year old ships with issues that needed addressing, so a suggestion would be to overlook minor things and just enjoy. Many food choices available throughout the ship, from pizza, salads, sandwiches, buffet, etc. and all were good. Since tastes differ the main dining menu has enough variety to satisfy pretty much any wish. I always get 2 or 3 offerings so that I could discover a new favorite. Chefs table was nice since they offered two for one on days that needed participants. The same at the steak house. Just be friendly and ask the head waiter quietly. Even without the drink package they will give you 40% off bottles of wine if you ask quietly! I never get the drink package because I bring two bottles of wine and a bottle or 2 of spirits. My last review received a question on how to bring on spirits. Amazon has "rum runners". Check them out on YouTube. The comedians, Ice show, main showroom, dive show, all very good. The exception was the production show Cats. It was awful. About half the audience walked out within 20 minutes, us included. I would have left 10 minutes sooner but my darling wife said we needed to give it a chance to have some entertaining value. Nope, nada, zip. When she glanced at me then rolled her eyes I knew she had given up also. Don't worry about having 6,000 guests causing lines. We did not have any issues. First timers need to book the free shows weeks in advance of cruise date because seating is limited. A line will form for non-ticketed folks 10 minutes before showtime. You will still get in! Just seats could be scattered. Try the Oasis. You will love it.
