I'll start off by saying that we paid a very low price for this cruise..440.00 Canadian..so I really have nothing to compain about..but...My sister and I travel once a year together and this was her first cruise..I have cruised 4 times before, on Norweigian 2x, and on Princess 2x. I wanted her to love it as I do..and I wanted her to be in awe, as I have on previous cruises. This was not to be on The Liberty. Nothing at all wrong with the ship, or it's amenities..Just not an "awe" thing as I have experienced before.. The Atrium, which I have been impressed with on my previous cruises, was small and really non-desript..It was just a bar area. Our room..2208 was fine, with a single bed and a couch...Lots of room for everything..3 ample closets for clothes, a nice vanity..and plenty of space for the 2 of us. Nice little sample sized things..toothpaste, razors, pepcid, shampoo, and lotion. Shampoo and Gel in bathroom 9dispensers)..No conditioner. Meals were fine, but nothing to write home about. 3 out of 5 nights in the dining room ( Golden) we received our meals at different times. It appears as though not alot of attention to detail. Harry's was wonderful with a huge lobster tail and all the accompaniments; however our special night was marred by the young waiter Yvon arguing that my sister ordered her meat well done, when she indeed ordered it rare..Not a mistake too many of us make..we know how we eat our meat..The escargot was an artistic treat, and delicious. Well worth the 30.00. There are many delicious entees such as baby back ribs, lots of fish selection, prime rib, lobster tails..etc. If you love lobster, and are planning to visit Harry's, just make sure you do not go to Harry's on the first formal night..which is lobster night in the main restaurant..on our cruise anyway...check it out and you can get 2 lobster nights. The big screen on Lido deck (9) is so nice when a movie is playing. Aside from that, we watched the same videos almost every day. The buffet is ok..The fish and chips were wonderful..Make sure you try them. The ship is far to chopped up and you'll find yourself going up one floor for this and down one floor for that..Just an annoyance. My sister and I visited the spa once and got 3 treatments for 89.00...facial, head and neck massage, and foot and ankle massage..Well worth it!! Drinks were more expensive than I have seen on any ship..4 beers, in a bucket for around the 25.00 mark..Specialty drinks of the day ranged from 7.95..to 14.95. Tipping was pushed on this cruise like I have never seen before..Even when the Captain spoke, he pushed to reward the people who have made your trip valuable. Butch, the cruise director, was great. I have read many reviews where people have said they don't like him..He was personable, and appeared a happy guy who just wanted to make everyone's cruise a good one. The ship was very very crowded on sea days, yet the dining rooms were not open for lunch..Forget the "no saving chairs" policy..It is not enforced..I am the resident early riser on any cruise I have been on and could have my "pick of chairs." The first couple of days I didn't "reserve" a chair..but lost out to the people who chose to "reserve" their chairs, go back to bed, and have their chairs for the afternoon. Our room steward Victor was wonderful, and we couldn't have asked for anyone better. The in room safe was also an annoyance..They make you lock it with your credit card which means..#1..defeats the purpose of locking your valuables up..#2 If you are travelling in a pair, one person always has to provide the credit card to the other person to access the safe. They should have a code to access..so each person can get into the safe..without the other person being around. Room service for tea at night was great. We also used it for a light dinner when we'd had enough of the hussle and bussle. Alot of young-ish people on board..Nothing that really bothered me, but they made their presence known when they were drinking..As I said, I am always up early and I'd see people draped over the couches in the atrium, or passed out in some little nook or cranny in the early morning hours. Only saw 2 shows..the hypnotist, who was absolutely hilarious...don't miss it..Also Legends..where the cruise line recruits fellow passengers to perform as celebrities..Very enjoyable..and Thank You to my fellow cruisers for providing such an awesome night. You guys were great!!

PORTS OF CALL: Cozumel: Best day of the cruise..Went to Playa Mia Beach Club for a nice afternoon..Drinks and lunch included. Had 5 Margaritas..didn't feel a thing..think the cost was around the 60.00 mark. Started drinking beer..Only a 4 hour excursion..wonder why..when Cozumel was such a lengthy port..all in all they treat you right..with your own personal "butler" Our "butler" Jose, told us not to tip him until the end of the day..The buffet was ok..but instead of the "Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock, we felt under attack from the flies. I know this can't be helped in an open air restaurant..but the flies were terrible...and..all over the food. Wouldn't reccommend it. Went to Fat Tuesday's, where we had a great time dancing, drinking, taking pictures..buying silver ( the silver may be cheap, but my experience in Mexico has been, that the silver doesn't tarnish..Always room for negotiating) Got 2 silver rings for $57.00, a pair of hoop earrings for $30.00, cigarettes for about 24.00 a carton. Grand Cayman Island: Couldn't go to George Town because the water was rough but we did get tendered in at Spots Bay..Taxi ride to town was 5.00 per person. Our submarine excursion was cancelled due to sea conditions..I have read this alot about Grand Cayman Island..Shopped a bit. Then went to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch..Be very careful here..Every single thing we bought in Grand Cayman Island was in U.S. dollars..yet at Hard Rock..without reading the fine print..the prices were in Cayman Island dollars...so..a platter that was advertised for 21.00..ended up costing us almost 40 dollare american with 2 sodas..Their strategy?? Who knows..I felt ripped off though, and would advise not going there. Ocho Rios, Jamaica: Went to Bamboo Beach Club..They make you sit in a section with your "fellow travellers" Honestly here..we paid 60.00 for this excursion and this is what we had..a small plate of rice..2 dumplings with sauce, a plate of jerk sausage..and 1 piece of jerk chicken..we got an extra piece of jerk chicken after asking for it. People on cruise vacations should be complaining about these tours as they are not as advertised..Bamboo Beach Club had great entertainment though. My final words are this..We paid a cheapy price for this vacation, and that is what we got..No complaints, but I truly would much rather pay a little more and get the quality that I know is out there. We had a wonderful time..in spite of what may appear as complaints. Cruising is wonderful, and exciting, and if you can do it at the cheapy price..I wish you wonderful voyages..For me, though, Carnival is not my cup of tea..
