I always wanted to go to the Scandinavian countries and this cruise was the perfect opportunity. The cruise would be over my birthday, but I saw it as a bit of a present. The cruise was great. We were picked up at the airport and taken to the ship. Our bags were brought to our cabin and our ship board stay had begun. My brother and I had done the pre-cruise visit to Stockholm. That was a beautiful city. From there we flew to Copenhagen to board the ship. It was our second voyage on the Viking Sky. We had been on the maiden voyage of the ship, a Mediterranean trip from Rome to Barcelona. We found it to be the same well appointed, well run vessel. We took a slight upgrade on our cabin so that we might have a little more space. Actually I think my brother took it so that he could be closer to the Buffet dining restaurant where we took most of our meals. The food was wonderful. On our trip we had a selection of fish every day on the menu. There were numerous activities on bord with port of call lectures and points of interest to see. The service was excellent. I can honestly say I never encountered even one disagreeable staff member on board. All were friendly, courteous and helpful. The ports and shore tours were well prepared and presented. We had several tour guides who had personal stories to tell about the cities. The care and preparation of the entire cruise was well thought out and executed. There were of course some glitches, which are to be expected, but they were so few and far between the preponderance of wonderful moments, I can scarcely recall them.
