This was a magnificent and iconic river route with stops in Netherlands, Germany, France and Switzerland and an easy side trip to Italy. The Rhine was the real star in this event as weather was ideal for observing passing river traffic, historic castles, quaint villages and gorgeous scenery. Passing though the river locks was a fascinating new experience for me.

The accommodations on board, and meals were superb. All staff were delightful and professional. Shore excursions were interesting and varied. It was easy to visit the environs of the ports where we stopped by myself as well. There is limited entertainment on the ship, and no exercise facilities other than walking the upper deck. But the good company on board, and activities on shore were sufficiently engaging, while leaving me with quality time to sit on deck or on the veranda by my cabin.
