This was our second River Cruise with Viking, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. As you may know, River ships are much smaller than ocean going vessels, and so they might not have as many amenities as some people might like. For example, there is no casino or big theater for shows. There are not multiple dining rooms. However, the ship is very comfortable and cozy, and it’s easy to meet people! The dining room is very nice with good views all around. The food was quite good at all meals, and the service was great.

Our stateroom was a bedroom, bath, and small sitting area with small balcony. We were super comfortable. Our room was always kept clean and neat in a very timely manner. Storage space is somewhat limited, so don’t overpack! You don’t really need to, anyway, as the dress code is mostly casual. No formal wear required! (Thank goodness!)

The included shore excursions were informative and enjoyable. Viking makes sure you don’t miss any highlights. If you chose to pay extra for a special excursion, you will get your money’s worth! The tour guides are very professional, speak excellent English, and really know their stuff! We actually extended our cruise by taking a 3-day tour of the Loire Valley. We saw great countryside, toured cities, cathedrals, and a winery. We even stayed in a French chateau. Excellent tour!
