Hmmm where should I begin? Don’t go on Norwegian breakaway. While it was my first cruise, it was my husbands 8th cruise- both of us decided we would never sail Norwegian again. To begin with the check in process was a disaster- no clarity or organization. Not to mention, they were all rude. Food was terrible. The only edible food you had to pay for which some items served were the same at other restaurants. Service was beyond terrible. We had one good waiter the entire trip. Overly crowded ship. Buffet was not open at all times. Pool and hot tubs closed at 10. Very tiny pool. Uncomfortable seating everywhere you went. Rumor was that the sailing before us had an outbreak of the neuro virus which affected half the ship. They didn’t bother to inform us of this and just kept spraying sanitizer in hands. We had friends that contracted the virus. Once they complained they were informed that they supposedly contracted the virus from restaurants in Mexico. We dined in Mexico and did not contract the virus. I spent $215 in the spa for a facial. Couldn’t relax in the facial due to the gym being on the floor above and medicine balls being constantly dropped. At one point it scared me so bad that I jumped. Worst Brazilian steakhouse ever. They did not know how to cook picanha. They actually served it raw. Many bars were closed during the day. Most workers couldn’t speak good English. It is obvious why they have 90% Phillipino workers. Everything you did including bowling on a mini bowling alley cost money. Impossible to get salt and pepper. And.... to top it off we thought for a brief moment that we would sign up for cruise next promotion to give Norwegian a second chance. We ended up canceling this with the cruise next manager. On our way home I check my credit card statement and they had charged us for double the amount of the cruisenext promotion. When I called to talk to that department - they stated due to the holidays they would be closed until the 26th. I just can’t believe how badly this cruise is ran. It is beyond a waste of money. If you can cancel- please save your money. We talked to at least 10 other couples who had the same feelings about the cruise stating they would never sail Norwegian again. The only good thing about the cruise ship is that it is very clean. Perhaps they should spend just as much time focusing on their customers as they do cleaning and they may just have better profits.
