Boarding at Fort Lauderdale was pleasant due to having Faster to Fun add on. We were checked in and onboard in under 15 minutes, room was ready as soon as we boarded.

Downside of faster to fun I don’t think the room stewards have time to properly prepare your room after previous guests have checked out.

This was probably the first time in 9 cruises that we can say our room was dirty, old ear buds left on floor, floor not vacuumed. Cupboards not wiped out - had what appeared to be sugar on the shelves. As a whole this particular cruise did not seem to worry about general housekeeping or cleanliness.

On other cruise lines you are seeing cleaning staff constantly wiping down and cleaning, here they had a white towel/cloth wiping without any sign of disinfectant or cleaning product.

Room also had a strange safe- firstly safe was tiny it’s a squeeze to put in iPads and camera, as well as a really strange locking mechanism needing to use a credit card to swipe in and out of the safe. So instead of locking away a credit in safe you now needed to keep one out to get back in.

We had room 1067, which had pros and cons if you want to be right at the action namely swimming pools, sun deck, the two bars and the best of course guys burger bar you couldn’t ask for closer, as well as movie nights.

The con on this room you are located next door to a air conditioner unit assuming for the running of systems on ship and this hums all night and day, if you are a light sleeper not good. Plus being so close to the action- you will hear everyone else coming in and out on their way back to their rooms.

Food: On the upside this is probably one of the best cruise lines with regards to food selection and quality, the buffet had a wide range of foods etc. more so than other cruise line buffet options.

Staff onboard were all amazing and really went out their way to remember your name and beverage preferences no matter which bar you went to.

The gym onboard was well stocked of machines and equipment, approx 12 treadmills, elliptical trainers, weights. A brilliant gym which is needed especially with the amount of food being eaten onboard.

Ports of calls amazing, couldn’t ask for a better stops.

The cheers drinks package was worth getting it, especially with the selection of drinks be aware majority of drinks are either rum or tequila based!

First time on cruise were you can also get vitamin water which is great for gym sessions as well as taking off boat on your excursions just remember all drinks will be opened.

Maintenance on ship wasn’t as great as other ships, where you see staff all day long cleaning, painting and repairing. Not so on this one?

Doesn’t mean ship unsafe and we never felt safety was compromised, just more unusual as we so used to how other cruise lines work!

On the whole we would definitely cruise with carnival again just perhaps on a newer built ship! Great staff made up for anything that was maybe lacking.
