We choose Discovery because our first two cruises on board this ship were amazing. This is our third cruise on Discovery since June 2018 and we will be joining them again in the New Year. The crew are, in my experience, without exception friendly, helpful, cheerful and utterly professional. The ship has a friendly and relaxed ambiance and caters for all needs... there is always something to do! Captain Chris and his team are a pleasure to sail with. They are highly visible and very approachable every day.
We took the Dreamliner from Gatwick and arrived in Dubai pretty much on schedule. We were informed of the electrical fault on board and told of our itinerary change and of our 33% refund. It meant missing Mumbai and Mangalore which was a little disappointing. In actuality, the repairs were completed and we sailed the next day and only Mumbai was missed... and my deposit for my next cruise was on its way to the bank! The transfer to the ship took a little longer than I expected and there were problems on arrival at the ship due to the port's internet going on the blink. I believe in judging a team by the way they deal with adversity and the whole crew seemed to be drafted into arrival area to make a difficult situation as smooth and quick as possible. It was also delightful that several members of the team remembered us by name and greeted us with a smile and helpful advice and support.
Disembarcation presented issues because of "drone attacks" on Gatwick... hardly Tui's fault in my opinion. I was impressed by Tui's response: we flew to Stansted via Bulgaria. At Stansted we were quickly through passport control and straight into a one of fleet of taxis which took us Gatwick. Our taxi actually took us all the weay to our car 7 miles away from the airport! Fantastic service with two £100 holiday vouchers thrown in!
