My husband and I too were on the Island Escape's Canary Islands Cruise during half term week and have nothing but praise for he Captain who had many major and difficult decisions to make during the week's cruise due to the rough seas and ports 'closing their docking facilities'. We feel Captain Klimont acted in the best interests of the passengers even though he had to leave some behind when a storm and freak waves suddenly rocked the ship in harbour and he had to leave quickly before more damage was done to the ship.

All had started well on the cruise visiting Gran Canaria and then the ship hit rough seas and couldn't dock at La Palma so on to Madeira we sailed and spent a good day ashore leaving the port before the freak storms hit Madeira. It was a great pity we had to turn around because the port of Agadir, Morocco was closed and the sea was so rough and we sailed into Lanzarote a day early but due to the sudden storm, as mentioned earlier, the ship sailed away from port into calmer waters and we revisited a windy but sunny Gran Canaria again before we docked on time back at Tenerife. We then stayed for a super very hot week of weather in Tenerife.

We did the same cruise last November and had beautiful weather from start to finish and wished we had stayed for a week on Tenerife, so we booked again. We felt very sorry for first time cruisers and those who had not done the itinerary before. We have enjoyed several cruises on the Island Escape before as we find the crew extremely friendly and always wishing you a Good Day. The waiters we have found excellent and because I have walking difficulties they help me with my chair, suddenly appear to help me back to my seat taking my plate and often making a flower or animal from a paper serviette. They are so good with children too. One waiter had a guitar and others joined him to sing happy birthday to my husband on his birthday onboard. The cabin crew and entertainment staff we find very friendly. The entertainment was repeated but we still went to the shows and the late night cabarets.
