Going into this cruise we were brand new to Norwegian. We usually cruised carnival. The ship itself was good, considering it’s an older ship. Some of the staff were EXTREMELY crabby in the restaurant. They would hardly smile, they would rarely check our drinks for refills, and we found ourselves waiting for 1.5 hours for our main meal a few of the nights. Yes, we had a larger group (5) but for it to take 1.5 hours just to get the main course? (Which we never even got because we just left and went to the Buffett) That meant we were missing out on some of the activities that were going on on the ship. Honestly the food was just mediocre in the dining room. Carnival definitely tops Norwegian when it comes to food. Our stateroom attendant was amazing, and very helpful! I loved how everyone on the cruise was about hand washing/sensitizing. “Washy washy” was the phrase stuck in my head for the next week. Embarkment and disembarkment went smooth! The free drinks were delicious and the bartenders were great! Overall the value for the money is a good deal... but if you want the best service, and activities, then I would say go with carnival.
