We have been on many cruises on different lines and this is our first with CMV. We were attracted to this as Columbus was previously Ocean Village which was our first cruise many moons ago and the fact they had a buy one get one free deal. Added to this that the day in Amsterdam fell on my birthday, it seemed ideal. To me, it was a cruise of two halves. Night 2 was much better than night 1.

EMBARKATION AND FIRST NIGHT

We stayed the night before in the Premier Inn Thurrock East which was only a 15-minute drive from the port and a 20-minute walk from Lakeside Shopping Centre.

Cabin Review

Cabin Outside

We had an outside cabin (5120) which had new carpets and curtains and was quite large. The furnishings were a bit tired but didn’t really bother us for 2 nights. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the cabin. There was shampoo on the wall in the bathroom (which was quite small) but no shower gel so take your own. The walk-in wardrobe was quite large and kept everything out of the way. The curtains were not blackout which meant the light came through but I had some eyeshades with me.
