The Panama Canal cruise was on our bucket list. We are into our 70s and both have some chronic health issues, so we wanted to get this off of our list.
We chose the aft facing cabin so we had a 180 degree view when going through the canal.
This was a great choice and we loved sitting on our balcony and enjoying the view. Even was nice in some of the ports.
Having an Aft facing cabin, on this cruise, is a great idea. Going through the Panama Canal with a 180 degree view was awesome. We also enjoyed some nice views coming into ports, while in the port, and leaving the ports. Was it worth the extra money? Yes, but probably only on this type of cruise.
The cabin is listed as a "mini suite". I don't think there is any extra living space, compared to a regular balcony cabin, but there was extra bathroom space. When you walk into the bathroom there is the toilet to the right with a sliding opaque door for privacy. Directly ahead is a one bowl sink with shelves to the right side. To the left is a full sized tub/shower. I guess if either of us took baths, it would have been nice. However, we are both shower people and I have some balance issues, due to Neuropathy in both legs. The tub was not a low profile and it was a task climbing in and out of it to shower. We managed and survived the two weeks of extra exercise when showering. There was plenty of storage in the closet. Drawers at the corner of the closet and hallway. Cabinets and drawers in the desk area.
The balcony was a normal size. Two chairs and a very small table for drinks. We would have enjoyed a larger space, but that's how this one came. There were some full suites below us and they had the larger balconies and wicker lounge chairs. Like I said, this is a perfect cabin for going through the canal and maybe the Fjords up in Alaska.
