Koningsdam was different to say the least. We were on our 16th cruise and going to islands that we had not been too. To give credit this is a beautiful ship. We did our usual embarkation at the pier which really went fast but we noticed they did not ask for our credit card for purchases on board. When we got on board there was a huge line at customer service so we decided to wait until the next day to setup our account. It is HAL's practice to call your credit card company and put a hold on your card for a percentage of your total cruise package and in our case it was $1200. Only problem we had with that was one of our cards would not do it for security reasons.

Eating on board was very different than other cruises we had been on. Most of our meals were in the buffet because it took a long time to dine in the dinning room. Long waits between courses for some reason. The food was very good but it took way to long to eat. The buffet food was also very good but they served the same meals every time. What you ate the night before was served again the next night with the same four selections.

Our cabin (balcony) was very nice and comfortable with a great balcony. Our two (yes two) cabin stewarts were exceptional. It was nice to see a ship with plenty of staff for service. With two working together they were in and out quick. Read more
