Island Princess Cruise Review by Squirll
- Sail Date: July 2018
- Destination: Alaska
- Cabin Type: Oceanview
The food was amazing, we had anytime dining and ate in the dining room every night. One night, unfortunately I had to run to the excursions desk to fix a booking issue and sadly – I was not allowed to take my desert with me (remember – no go-go boxes), but it didn’t matter - I was happy with all the on-board options for treats. Excursions were able to fix our booking error and give a refund on our last day glacier tour in Whittier (it turned out to be fine, since the weather was so clear, we could see all the glaciers from the ship and the bus back).
My cabin was great, I got upgraded from an interior room to a window (Maria was amazing). I highly recommend going to the reception for the Captain Circle members. In addition to the welcome, you receive a coupon for a drink – and if you are lucky (like I was) you will win Platinum Level for the remainder of the cruise! It was so amazing (thank you Rhianna) – the extra perks and benefits. I was so sad to know that I would have to give it up on my next cruise, but I will try again to win.
The entertainment was top notch! Every evening we would meet up at Crooners for some ‘chair dancing’ as my mom named it, followed by some time in the casino and then to the Explorer Lounge (the band Symphonee from Barbados was great and the bar staff were my Favorite!). What made the trip extra special – other than the company, amazingly clear weather and wildlife were the onboard staff who went above and beyond.
Thank you to Duval and the entertainers and the crew – an amazing trip and memories for a lifetime.

Glacier BayAmazing weather, great views. The Park Rangers who came on board were super friendly and informative. They also pointed out when we would get cell service from the mainland.View All 616 Glacier Bay Cruise Port Reviews

Whale WatchingNice staff on the boat and great weather. We saw Humpbacks bubble net feeding. I really liked Icy Straight. I liked that it was more of an eco-tourist destination and we did not show up to some small town and cause chaos. Very peaceful and quiet. The Canary Warf was fun to explore, great local gifts.View All 128 Whale Watching Reviews
Bicycle TourGreat bike ride. Note the salmon were running so the eagles were all out at the rivers but it was great to see them on our ride down and then all of the ravens in town. Easy ride - all downhill with good guides and good bikes.View All 16 Bicycle Tour Reviews
SkagwayI wanted to take the train and then bike down, Princess didn't offer it so I booked it independently. Easy walk into town, van ride to the train depot then the amazing train up and the history of the klondike and gold rush.View All 12,270 Skagway Cruise Port Reviews

Bicycle tourThe bike ride was crazy. The clouds started to lift as we came down from the top. Crossing the boarder on a bike was fun - no stamp - but still great. The bikes and gear were top notch. Good breaks.View All 29 Bicycle tour Reviews
VancouverEntry and customs were fast - we took a transfer from the airport but only due to my mom's limited mobility but would have been just as happy in a taxi or uber.View All 597 Vancouver Cruise Port Reviews
