My husband had 5 bypasses in Feb.. and our daughter died in April so this was our first cruise since..We live an hour from Galveston and have sailed just about every port you can go so we try different ships..This time the Vista was it even though my husband prefers the smaller classes..I do believe Galveston has outgrown its port ability..It was "bike week" which is right down by the port and there was a wreck so we did not get on till 2:00pm..traffic was horrible..We had a balcony on the 8th floor alittle more midship than we usually stay but it worked out rather good..We never eat at certain time so lines were not a problem for us..buffets were just about the same as all ships but dinners were nice with a good selection..There are lots of different places to choose from for lunch..We choose to have our room cleaned in the evening which worked well with our 6:00pm dining..I did not really care for the chairs in the theatre..single straightback were just not comfortable though I understand why they did it..They move them around alot for the shows..Most of the shows were pretty much the same as on other ships but they did do one with lights that was just totally awesome..They have a very good BBQ..the Pig and Anchor I think that is on deck 5 midship outside on sailing days..All in all with 4500 passengers onboard things went rather smoothly..Everything but getting on and off..We were 2 hours late to port meaning there was another 4500 waiting to get on while they were trying to get us off..it was just a mess but sometimes things just happen..We sail again in Feb. on the Valor a much smaller ship I think those work better for us..
