Fifth cruise for me,first for my husband, third Carnival Cruise. Chose this one for our honeymoon as relatives live close so no need for transportation/hotel, and this fit in the time frame we were planning. Note- value was exceptional for this particular cruise.
Embarkation well run. No complaints with Tampa.
This is an older ship but still clean and you can see where there were updates done. Some of the decor is nothing short of gaudy, but not offensive. Could use some freshening and softening.
Onboard guests had a nice range from baby to elders and all got along wonderfully/respectfully.
Cabin average, bed very comfortable. Only one outlet most difficult. Steward service excellent.
Food- meh, with the exception of the steak house. DO IT! We ended up having two dinners there; both fabulous. Main dining room okay- you need to like purple- the decor could definitely use an update, buffet hit or miss.
Entertainment- live music okay, stage shows lacking, comedy very good. We liked the club, just had to stay on lower level as smoking is allowed on second. Frankie (cruise director) and his staff pushed shopping WAY too much, but otherwise did an outstanding job. Really, peddling watches is not an activity. Try more games. We made the mistake of taking late dining, which is usually our preference, but missed most of the activities/shows we would have usually gone to. Will take early dinner next time.
Service- mostly good. As previously mentioned, steward (Made) was exceptional. Had bad experience with excursion desk, but they made up for it in the end.
Cozumel: Swam with dophins- fun; was on the bucket list. Besides outrageously priced photos, great experience. We had the amazing caves booked, but won this the day before, so they let us swap.
Costa Maya: did a non-Carnival beach club that was recommended (Yaya)- great day on a beautiful beach with good shopping
Belize: Must have been on the same excursion as cheatdm to Xunantunich. Told last minute that the same river that other ruins excursions used was too flooded for us to get back from site (while we were all standing in front of the bus last minute). Alternate site beyond disappointing. Complained to Carnival excursion desk about how the tour company handled it with no sympathy (wish I had taken her name- she should not be behind that desk). Got call next day saying would refund 20%, they ended up refunding 100%.
Roatan: Best excursion done at the Jungle ATVs. Great, great experience and staff is top notch. Nice beach club included also. Highly recommend.
Grand Cayman: did not do excursion-my 3rd visit to Grand Cayman and been there, done that. Wonderful place if you like to snorkel, and stingray city always nice, just decided not to do it this time.
Disembarkation took way too long- this was a customs issue, really, but did Tampa not remember that they had 2,000 people coming through that day? Only had 2 customs officers working. Hope that is not the norm.
Cruise was more good than bad, but if you've been on any higher end ships you may be disappointed.
Not a bad space; it was just the two of us. Little fridge worked out fine for the wine & soda we brought on board as well as little snacks for the late night. Bed was comfortable, although the middle where they joined two to make a king had a sag. Made our cabin steward had to be the hardest working man on the ship- treated us like royalty. If you have kids, only having one outlet will be problematic for charger space! Tons of closet space/drawers. We only used half. Could use a little updating, but everything clean and for the time you spend in the room, acceptable.
Fun, would recommend. Did not get to kayak due to rough seas, but everything else really nice. Be warned that pictures are expensive.View All 456 Dolphin Swim & Encounter Reviews
Bargain price, good meal & beverages. Only few minutes from port and surrounded by shopping.View All undefined undefined Reviews
Sure the ruins are beautiful and worth the two hour ride over terrible road conditions, but we wouldn't know. See main review for more details. Ended up at Cahal Pech instead and underwhelmed.View All 49 Xunantunich Reviews
Really amazing day- we had so much fun! Lucky enough that it was pouring when we got off the ship and most of booked guests cancelled. Six of us decided to trek on and had a blast. The rain stopped before we boarded the buses. Beach was mostly empty also for this reason. Too bad for cancellations, good for us!View All undefined undefined Reviews
