Trip Report - Norwegian Jewel - February 14th, 2010

We live just outside Toronto and the plan was to fly Delta, from Buffalo to Miami, via Atlanta on Feb 12th. But with the potential for a 'storm' in Atlanta there were cancellations and in the end our flights had us flying Feb 12th on United hosted by Air Canada, from Toronto to Chicago, where our luggage proceded to be flown to Miami and we didn't. Then on Sunday Feb 14th they were able to get us from to Chicago to Miami on American Airlines. It was a shame that we didn't get to stay at the Intercontinental in Miami, as I always look forward to that. But the IC Miami was nice enough to cancel our booking a day late and we booked the IC Chicago O'hare. Wow, this IC is very nice. I'll put all that info on Tripadvisor. It was nice that we enjoyed the hotel, as we were in Rosemont, Illinois, in the middle of February with only the clothes we had on for 2 days. Just an FYI, we had insurance and very important is that trip insurance DOES NOT take effect until you leave you house and start your trip. So, DON'T ever explain that you were checking on your flights at home and noticed that there was a cancellation when talking to the trip ins. people. Tell them you were checking on you PDA while enroute to your pre flight hotel, or the airport or whatever. That being said, they were awesome and called me back the next day to say that they were going to make an exception. The luggage 'loss', which I thought wouldn't be covered as it was the carriers fault, was covered no problem.

Ok, fast forward to Feb 14th, 2010, cruise day. We finally get to Miami 2 days after we planned but heck we made it. It took us about half an hr to get our 'lost' luggage and we grabbed a cab and headed to the ship. We arrived at the ship at 2:30pm andthere is absolutely no waiting at this point, as the majority of the passengers have already checked in. Even though not many more people would be boarding, they had a full greeting line of staff to welcome us.
