Ships this size can go all the way to Montreal, some of the big ships can only go as far as Quebec City.

See also separate text of itinerary. We anticipated seeing more of the land on either side of the St. Lawrence and were disappointed. The cruising day (Oct. 11) we barely saw any land to the starboard side. And that was at a distance. Friday (Oct. 12) was spent in Quebec City until 5:00pm. We only saw shore on either side for 2 hours as it got dark at 7:00pm.

Ship was older but in very good repair and the food was very good too. Service from cabin steward to bar tenders was top notch! The drawback for me was the fact that the average passenger age appeared to be close to 80 years! Lots of rolling walkers (some double wide!), canes, sticks, wheelchairs, and electric scooters. The wheelchair and scooter users were OK, the others had difficulty navigating and slowed things down. Also they all wanted to eat at the same time so the dining room wait time was bad. We went to the casual restaurant the first night and that worked. BUT, it appeared that many passengers had made dinner reservations in the main dining room before getting on the ship. We had never encountered that before ( 4 previous cruises with HAL) and struggled a bit to make ourselves happy with dining choices. We ate at the Pinnacle restaurant 2 nights and one lunch and that was most enjoyable. Entertainment was poor on this cruise. Two nights of a comedian and one night of the BBC Planet Earth movie with live orchestra. Hey, I saw that on TV last year -- not live orchestra in my living room, but orchestral sound track. Other nights were equally memorable. Piano bar was good and a chamber music trio also available most nights.

Cabin Review

Neptune Deluxe Verandah Suite

Cabin SB

Spacious cabin, bathroom smaller since this was a smaller ship. Tub with shower only, no stand up shower and only one sink. Dressing area was fine and lots of storage space. The balcony was very large.
