We are long time Celebrity cruisers and have been eagerly anticipating this ship. I will begin by saying that Edge is beautifully decorated - tasteful furnishings, interesting artwork and restful color scheme. I'm also fascinated by the incredible technology used throughout the ship. All that being said, there were definitely some issues that I hope can be corrected on the next ships in this class.

The concept of 4 main dining rooms with different menus sounds great, until one realizes that specialty menus don't change from night to night. Perhaps on a longer cruise, the menus will change. If not, I could easily see becoming bored with each of these restaurants on a 1 - 2 week cruise. The Ocean View Cafe was great - food was well prepared and the addition of a quiet area toward the front of the space was especially nice. We chose not to dine in specialty restaurants, as we wanted to get a picture of what an average cruiser might expect. Service in the restaurants was excellent, as always.

I found the pervasive, loud techno pop music unappealing - On previous cruises, we have enjoyed bars/lounges with either classical music or light jazz - Couldn't find a single place on Edge to have a quiet drink and conversation in the evening - Everyone was yelling to be heard over the volume of the music.

Cabin Review

Sunset Veranda Stateroom

Cabin SV

Our Sunset Veranda was lovely and very spacious. It was located in a small alcove adjacent to a suite. The outer door opened inward, but the door to the actual cabin opened into a shallow vestibule. My speculation is that anyone using a walker or wheelchair would find it difficult to even enter the room! Back to safety - while unpacking (in my bare feet), I opened the bottom drawer of the dresser which did not provide enough clearance to prevent scraping the top of my foot. Several electrical outlets were not accommodating of large plugs, including the plug on the ship-supplied hair dryer. We were also approximately 325 feet from the nearest stairwell/elevator -
