  3. Norwegian Getaway
A family member had gone on the sister ship ,Breakaway last year and had a wonderful experience. My husband and I went on the Getaway this year with those family members and found it to be overcrowded. The Atrium is where many activities are held but is not large enough for the crowds that show up. There are not enough chairs so people crowd and squish around the atrium and it makes it very uncomfortable. These shows should be held in a theater. There are many wonderful restaurants to choose from at an additional cost or as a perk with your booking however unless you made reservations well before your cruise you will have a hard time getting reservations. You also need to make reservations for all shows or you can't get in. Other cruise lines have theaters that can accommodate the first seating then the second seating but since this is all free style dining that isn't how shows work. Not sure if staff was just starting their contract or just ending but they were very quiet and not friendly like most crews are. Even amongst themselves they did not acknowledge each other. On a positive, the mini suite was large and had a great large bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The entertainment was first rate, broadway caliber. The food was far superior to some cruise lines and the decor of the ship wa very nice. Perhaps its just cruising in general that is changing and they need to charge $35 for Bingo and most other afternoon games and events that require paying to enjoy so they can meet expenses. Have sailed many other lines. I would give Norwegian another shot to see what a different class ship is like before I make a final judgement.

Not as impressive as other ships

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Turtle Swim
wonderful crew and boat that was large enough to accommodate the group, Crew was very friendly and stressed safety better than any other excursion I've ever taken. It is a beautiful boat ride although if you get sea sick take meds first because trade winds do cause a rough ride. Water was crystal clear and we did see a large sea turtle which came up for air right next to us. We would do again
