  3. Ovation of the Seas
We chose Ovation of The Seas, because it was a new ship and we had sailed on Royal Caribbean before. We were hoping this ship would be all we had expected, and, ah no, this ship is not what we expected, to big, you wait for elevators, dinner, service, and everything else onboard. The waiters and dining attendants are attentive and very friendly, the food is varied and plentiful, but the majority of the meat was sinewy and chewy. Cabin staff were excellent, where nothing was a problem. Entertainment was very good. But unfortunately I believe the Directors, were simply incompetent, poorly trained or just don’t care. Tendering (going ashore by ships boats) was simply a nightmare, getting people ashore is a huge problem with 4500 guests, and crew on shore leave, then duplicate that when trying to get back onto the ship. The ship is simply too big for small ports of call, like Picton, NZ, and Bay of Islands, NZ, where the small towns are simply overwhelmed by the influx of passengers, and crew, coffee shops full, packed restaurants and nothing to see or do, the hassle is just not worth going ashore. Other small ports like Vietnam, etc make visiting not worth the effort. Disembarking even at large ports can also be a problem when poorly trained staff aren’t up to par. Boarding was a nightmare, disembarking in Sydney, without assistance from officers and crew was a shambles, never again, Ovation of The Seas. Don’t complain, no one cares or listens at ROYAL CARIBBEAN.

Cabin Review

Interior with Virtual Balcony
Cabin 2U 10233
Our cabin was small, double bed, difficult to get out of bed as it was so close to the wall. TV, was horrible, British soaps, and old American sitcoms. The room was always clean and made up. Cabin crew friendly and respectful. Well done, cabin crew.
