Cabin: Mid-ship Balcony Stateroom

Friends chose this itinerary, but we had never been here before.

Arrival: we booked the ship’s transfer to the port. Although I would still suggest this option, expect chaos. We arrived at the airport about 9:30 am and discovered too few vans for too many passengers. Our friends arrived in the early afternoon and also discovered chaos. Nonetheless, unexpected NYC events can completely mess up your travel to the ship so take that into consideration.

Cabin Review

Mid-ship Balcony Stateroom

Two of our cabins felt long and narrow (9286, 9278). The layout is awkward, with the bed very close to the closets making it hard to get to your clothes. There are two sliding doors on the closet with narrow, shallow shelves on one side. Sure you can put your shoes in the closet but finding them again in the cramped, relatively dark space is another matter. There is a desk with a mini-bar, and deep corner shelves next to it. Next to that are very shallow shelves that we found to be of limited use.

The couch/settee across from the desk was relatively comfortable. The desk has three US outlets and one European one, a coffee maker and ice bucket.

Our shower seemed to have an electronic assist, and serenaded us with two main tunes: constipated robot and bleating sheep.

The third couple was in a much larger cabin (5162) with lots of storage and a larger settee.
