First Carnival Cruise after 3 cruises with Royal. Short cruise to Tasmania. Booked a guarantee balcony. Given balcony on Deck 8. Cabin was spacious. Happy to be close to the buffet and serenity the adults only area. Had issues with flooding in the cabin. Excellent service from guest services in getting this issue fixed to my satisfaction. Loved the pods in the adults only Serenity area and on the open decks. Fortunate to have had good weather on this cruise so used them alot and never had an issue finding a vacant one. Shame the ones in Serenity often get wet overnight and are not usable until the cushions dry out mid morning. Had no problem eating in the buffet but the food there was poor compared to Royal. MDR food was fine but service was lacking. Behind the scenes tour was excellent. Good value at $95 AUD each. You really feel like a VIP doing this tour. Book as soon as you board if you are interested as it is popular for good reason. Entertainment was good. Saw most of the shows and enjoyed them. Went to a free food demo in Nouveau. That was well done and enjoyed the tastings on offer. Ports were Hobart and Port Arthur. Hobart on a Saturday. Salamanca Markets. Underwhelmed with the markets. Tasmania Museum a short walk from ship was free and an excellent little museum. Port Arthur. Tender Port. Guides met the ship and gave a very interesting free talk and mini tour before you explored the site on your own. We had gorgeous weather and it was a pleasure to explore this historic and sad site on foot. Calm seas to Tassie and back. Saw dolphins from balcony as we were cruising away from Port Arthur. Nice mix of ages on board. Lifts were fast and only time there was a wait for one was on disembark morning. Cruise Director did a very good job. Had a lovely cruise and would be happy to book Carnival again.

Better than expected
