This will be a rather brief review of our 1/29/2010-2/12/2010 cruise on the Grand Princess. We have cruised 8 times with Princess (and 3 times on other cruise lines). This was our first cruise on the Grand Princess and I would like to mention that she is still a very nice ship. Embarkation went very smooth. We chose Anytime Dining and enjoyed the freedom with absolutely no problems being seated. The food on this ship was exceptionally good! We ate most dinners in the Dining Room, most breakfasts at the Horizon Court and most lunches at the Horizon Court. The dining room is available for breakfast and lunch. Also available on sea days is Pub Lunch, as well as pizza and the Grill. As many of you, we read past reviews before our cruise and I thought this positive review would be beneficial. The ENTIRE ship staff was extremely friendly and nice. Some interesting information given to us: the average age of the cruiser on this particular cruise was 66-1/2 yrs. of age. The longer the cruise, the higher the age -- so they say! What a nice, friendly group of people. We so enjoyed visiting with all the Canadians on board (750). There were so many ports of call that I have chosen not to review these. We booked one ship tour (Trinidad) and chose to do some tours on our own, as well as walking about these ports. The only negative (if this is one) was that we were accustomed to having midship stairs, as we usually book a midship room. On the Grand, there are only elevators midship. (This took some getting used to!) We enjoy the stairs when only needing to travel two floors--to the dining rooms or the casino, theater, etc. The elevators were usually very busy! There is also no International Cafe but we had no difficulty getting coffee with our coffee card at the lounges in the am. Cabin: The bathroom seemed a little larger than most, while the closet was smaller. The entertainment was the best that we have seen onboard Princess ships. Seas were calm and no sickness that we were aware of. Disembarkation was very good. We hope this review is informational to those about to embark. Enjoy.
