Seventh cruise and best so far. Every facet of this cruise was better than Pride of America, except Hawaii, because it's Hawaii. NCL Getaway is one of the larger ships in their fleet and it has a wealth of activities to keep all members of your family occupied. We started our smooth embarkation process around 11:15am and boarded the ship shortly after noon. Keep a carry-on with you for a change of clothes because luggage may not show for several hours and you will want to make immediate use of the pool area, rock climbing, rope course, mini golf, shopping, or simply grabbing a meal. The ship is pretty well maintained and clean throughout. The staff does a good job of picking up after the vast amount of people. The only area that could use additional attention would be the public restrooms.

The cabins are clean and well kept; thanks Duke! However, they are tight, but normal by today's standards. We chose a balcony cabin for our last two cruises, but first time cruisers may want to purchase an inside or ocean view for affordability and to test the waters so to speak. Try to stay mid-ship if possible.

Like most cruisers we spent a lot of time in the Garden Buffet, but we also tried 7 of their dining areas. The Garden Buffet provides quality food that is quick and easy to satisfy those hunger urges. Warning: Go slow, there is so much to eat and drink on a cruise that 10 lbs is an easy gain. Each evening the Garden Buffet has a theme night; Seafood, Asian, BBQ, etc. I wish NCL would reveal their schedule long before the cruise so we could take that into consideration when planning specialty dinners. EX. Seafood Night was Monday November 5th, our first full sea day. Large peeled shrimp was the winner here! Taste, Savor, and the Tropicana Room, all complimentary, serve the same standard menu and the food is rather good, However, Tropicana has a live band playing while you enjoy your meal, and we really loved it. O'Sheehan's was nice, but the Shrimp (2) and Ribs feature on Sunday 11/4 left us a bit disappointed. Teppanyaki was great and well worth the money. Our chef was very entertaining and funny. Most of us went with the Filet Mignon and Shrimp combo, and it was enjoyed by all. Ocean Blue was the most elegant and the most expensive, but well worth it. Three of our party went with the Surf and Turf while our friend John went with Salmon (huge portion). We were all highly satisfied! I even went back to OB the following day to enjoy a Lobster Roll for lunch on the Waterfront. Fantastic, but steep. ($11.70) Moderno, a Brazillian Steak House, was also spectacular. For starters the salad bar was stocked with above average fare, including lobster bisque. Then, waiters served filet, flank steak, sirloin, chicken, lamb, sausage, and even pineapple. It was a wonderful meal. Don't eat lunch before hand!

Tight quarters, but manageable. Duke was great.
