The whole experience was excellent. We attended the ship early and were permitted to leave our luggage which was well prior to the actual embarkation time. The tour director was thorough and approachable. He provided information at every stage to enable a full understanding of the cruise options and activities. The cabin was very clean and quite spacious, apart from the bathroom, which was understandably tight.There was ample, high quality dining and drink choices. The shore excursions were well planned and the local guides highly informed and personable. Due to the river not being navigable for part of the journey, a satisfactory coach option was organised and did not detract from the overall experience. The offer of payment for the 'inconvenience' was welcomed and generous. Overall, the cruise was great and I would be prepared to recommend Avalon to others.
