In the past, Celebrity Cruises have been one of my favourite crusie-lines to travel with. When I saw Celebrity’s Florida & Carribean itinerary, it seemed perfect for our family holiday.

Embarkment was smooth, at least from our perspective, since we were fortunate enough to join the fast-track lane. Once we passed through security, we were warmly welcomed aboard the ship, and made our way to our cabin. We found the cabin to be clean and tidy, although the balcony was not as well kept. Most (if not all) rooms come with a sofa/sofa-bed, and our family made use of our one. On previous holiday’s, the room attendants would neatly transform the bed back into a sofa and vice-versa, except this did not happen on this trip. We were also quick to notice that the bathroom products have all changed, bar-soap for liquid shower gel and so on. I guess those items are a matter of preference, but they are decidably against our taste.

It was not long before we ventured out to the open decks, and it became immediately apparent that the sunloungers no longer had the comfy toppers! We decided to take a spot on the sunloungers and catch some of the entertainment, albeit until the mid-afternoon, for the noise reached unbearable levels (I mean LOUD and louder still throughout the cruise). Unfortuantely, this is where further Celebrity cuts were seen, especially in regards to the singer, who had an extremely grating voice. I am not just being a moaning grump either, many fellow passengers agreed that the standards had slipped, and that the singing performance was far from acceptable. It is a shame to see Celebrity, a cruise-line I have loved in the past, to cheapen itself in such a way. Read more
