The Regal Princess in a beautiful relatively new ship. I chose this 5 day cruise because my friend had never cruised before and I wanted to show her how wonderful cruising is as I've been on over 20 cruises on many different lines.. Also leaving out of Brooklyn seemed easy since we could drive from New Jersey and park at the port. Getting back out of that port to the Verazzano Bridge on a weekday, not so easy. My friend is a chef and was critical of the dinner food in the dining room and she was right, it's not the best but for serving hundreds of people all at once it was okay,,Breakfast and lunch in the dining room were just fine. Alfredo's cafe has great pizza and nice light menu for no extra charge. We had fish and chips pub lunch one day at the Wheelhouse Bar with bread pudding dessert, all delicious. We opted for the specialty dining at Sabatini's and the Crown Grill and were not disappointed. You could never get a wonderful five course dinner for $ 25 and $ 29 at any restaurant I know. The food and service was top notch excellent! The shows were all very good but we did not care for the comedian even though he tried hard to be funny. He started out by telling the audience that he had Cerebral Palsy which was a bit of a downer and made it hard to see the comedy in his show. Halloween was great fun with crew dressing up in costumes. My friend had booked a massage at the Lotus Spa which she said was excellent. We had booked a Foodie Walking Tour in St. John and that was fun and informative and although a cloudy day, at least it didn't rain.
