Had checked previous reviews regarding Sun Princess cruise ship and got on ship with an open mind.Departed Sydney 05/02/2010 and travelled to following ports of New Zealand. Fjord land cruising, Dunedin,Christchurch,Wellington, Napier,Tauranga(Rotorua),Auckland and Bay of isles.Returned Sydney 18/02/2010.

Ship/crew:nothing but praise -staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem - you asked and you got it.Our room stateroom B206 at front of ship: superb, spacious and cleaned daily with lovely views from window.Meals:more food than the eye could see - watch the waist line. Entertainment:some elderly passengers complained it was too loud and not their type but i found it to be excellent(50,60,70,80 to modern).Suggest to any future travellers - get involved in the on-board activities/games.We used Excellent gymnasium daily and USED STEPS rather than the lifts-this helped to stop us gaining weight from all the good food.

Every night was a great night .The only More down side is there is just too much happening and not enough hours in the day to do it all.And that is the plus side of travelling - you can do it all or nothing - the choice is yours. We chose to involve ourselves in everything which meant early mornings (6.30am) and late nights ( 01:30am).Now we need a holiday to recover from this holiday.

I would definitely recommend this cruise ship to any travellers (new or old).

Shore excursions: organised via cruise ship are expensive but easy to do online prior to the trip.Check out visitor information centres in each port for daily tours- these are cheap. score for trip - 10/10 . Less

Cabin review: cb206

B206- stateroom - superb location , hardly anybody walked past (no pedestrian traffic). Ample size, spacious bathroom, closets and room. No issues identified.Great views from window- easily recommend.

Port and Shore Excursions

1.Dunedin- beautiful place- lots to see - recommend a visit to museum 5+. 2.Christchurch - another beautiful city- not enough time - we did the punt, tram and gondola -well worth the money. 5+ 3.Wellington- big city - recommend booking a guided tour and must see the museum (absolutely fantastic- not enough time).5 4.Napier- incredible place - again not enough time,we hired an old car for a guided tour- superb. any guided tours will be good. 5+ 5.Tauranga (Rotorua)- we organised a tour via the ship - money worthwhile spent- had an absolute superb time- Elite Polynesian spa experience. This was the most expensive tour but definitely worthwhile every cent.5++ 6.Auckland -we chose to walk around the city and sight see-5 7.Bay of islands- beautiful area- we did the Mac Attack - jet boat- got to visit and go through the hole in rock. awesome experience-but don't be fooled into thinking this boat does what other jet boats do (it goes fast but no water tricks). again not enough time to see and do it all. 5+

When doing shore tours it easy to work out your time table so you can re-board the ship have lunch and then go back to shore for more touring.

Overall trip 11/10 - we intend to do a land trip next time.
