Sail Date: Jan 2010

We have returned last week from our 14-day Hawaiian cruise aboard the Golden Princess booked through American Vacation Center. We booked this cruise because it had a duplicate bridge instructor on board and we would have several bridge lessons & games while at sea.

We drove from the Okanagan Valley in Western Canada on Jan. 24th 2010, to Los Angeles, CA. The drive was fine and we stayed 2 nites at the Vagabond Inn, San Pedro,California. We were pleased with the room, the continental breakfast and the security to leave our car on their lot for the duration of our cruise was ideal for us. The sum total was $310. The management & staff were very pleasant. We were provided with a shuttle from the motel to the pier to embark on our cruise on Jan. 31st.

At the pier, we were in a section for handicapped people (my husband has difficulty on long walks)and we had to wait quite awhile to board the ship while the non-handicapped people were boarded in. However, as unpleasant a wait as it was, we found it was no big deal. Strike 1

Cabin Review

Cabin U

We had no couch in the balcony stateroom we had booked and the shower was even smaller than the one we had on the Azamara.

A 12th floor location is not the best, being too close to the floor above with a cafeteria, swimming pool, and other activities going on. Also when the sea is rough, one feels the waves much more on the top floor than on midship.

The lack of cleanliness throughout was appaling at first sight but improved as the days went on.
