I chose this as my first ocean cruise because of the itinerary and a previous experience with Viking River cruises. The ship was immaculate - they were even power-washing to exterior in one port because of marks made when docking. The crew are all attractive, energetic and ready to meed your every need. There was an amazing variety of shore excursions,, designed to meet the needs of those of us walking with a cane to the young who hiked miles over mountains!
Dining is a pleasure. There are a variety of restaurants from buffets to white-linen tables. Of course, breakfast in bed watching the world go by through the glass wall separating your stateroom from your veranda.
Viking cruises can be expensive but you get what you pay for. You can lounge by the pool, reading in a quiet corner of the library, or enjoy a drink in the observation lounges fore and aft. Be aware that internet access will be spotty at best unless you are docked in a port where the ship can connect with a service. There is always the option of locating the Starbucks in your port.
The cabin was well designed with plenty of storage for two people's belongings. Beds were very comfortable and the ladies assigned to our rooms were in and out all day cleaning and fixing things. I wrote a letter to the captain praising the design of the bathroom. Pure Scandinavian thoughtfulness.
