  • Destination: the Western Mediterranean

We loved the ports of call but not enough time to fully enjoy as expected. Even though the ship is huge, we did not feel like we were lost as everything was well labeled and organized. Food and entertainment was outstanding with an awesome cruise director and staff that kept us fully entertained all the time. Only hitch was a delay in leaving Barcelona due to a disruption in the water service which needed to be repaired before we set sail.

We used private shore excursions which all went off without any problems, except in Naples when due to unforeseen traffic congestion, we barely made the last call with 10 minutes to spare.

The cabin was very nice, the bath and toilet were separated which was a very good idea, only minus was the sink was in the main cabin area which made a water mess on the floor when washing your face.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed this cruise and would highly recommend.

Montjuic/Olympic Stadium

It was a very rainy and overcast day so the ride up the mountain with the view cloudy, didn't make for our best photos.

Amalfi Coast

Breathtaking view along the coastline. We ate lunch in this nice Italian restaurant that overlooked the beautiful blue waters of the bay. Wonderful.

Pompeii Walking Tour

So much information was given, it was hard to process everything. You could feel the history in this place and think of the people that lived there. We found the tour a little rushed, though but it was understandable as we had to get back to the ship on time before sailing.

Colosseum

A wealth of history, if only the walls can talk. Wonderful guide we had gave us so much information that we eventually bought the book that she was using to show the before and after pictures.

Florence (Livorno)

We decided to explore on our own. We booked tickets for the Academia where the statue of David by Michelangelo and that did not disappoint. Wonderful city, tried the local wine, very nice.

Cannes

The city is very easy to walk and we were able to enjoy some local food and wine. There is a street that runs parallel to the main street where all the expensive shops were that was very cozy and felt very local. We enjoyed that.

It was a hop on hop off tour that we took but the weather was miserable, rainy and a bit cold. We were getting wet inside the bus and really didn't want to get off at any of the stops. On a sunny day, we would have enjoyed it but we just did a once around the city on the bus and headed back to the ship for a nice cup of hot tea.
