This cruise offered a chance to see parts of New England and my home country of Canada my wife and I wanted to see. The transportation from the airport to the port was less than we would have liked. The van was not maintained very well, broken seatbelts, and the side door would not close properly. At the pier embarkation was very easy and quick. The ship was a little tired but that will all be taken care of with the refit coming next year. Our cabin was fine as it was mostly used for sleeping. This was our first time trying anytime dinning and the first night was very rushed. Our appetizers arrived before our sommelier had come to the table. The following nights we were in a different section and service was great so we asked for the same waiter, Frederick, for the rest of our dinners in the main dining room. The speciality restaurants were awesome. The Tuscan Grille, Sushi On Five, and Quisine did not disappoint. As a chef myself I really enjoyed the cooking demonstrations by the executive chef and the progressive golf with Gigi was a blast. We went to the shows almost every night in the main theatre. The Celebrity cast of singers and dancers was good and the orchestra was great. The entertainment that was brought on board was excellent. The service was always great. We especially loved the Martini Bar where we were known by name and greeted each day by Imade. We booked a shore excursion in each port and found the tour guides to be excellent and very engaging. There was lots to see in each port but we especially enjoyed Quebec City, Charlottetown, Halifax, and Boston. Bar Harbour was missed due to weather. We booked a tour of Manhattan before our flight home. It is an amazing city to see but the tour felt very rushed. Several times it was mentioned that people had to get back earlier than the four hours allotted. However it was over heard in a conversation between the driver and the tour guide that the driver had a football game to work in the afternoon and was in a rush. Overall the cruise was excellent. This was our fifth time cruising with Celebrity and second time on the Summit. We were however disappointed with the changes too the Captains club since we last cruised. Our previous cruises of 10 days or less were each worth 30 club points however because of the category we booked this 14 day cruise was only worth 28 points. This left us 2 points shy of the next upgrade level.
In the end we enjoyed the cruise very much. We met some great people and the fall colours were spectacular. We would recommend this itinerary and ship to cruisers who enjoy history and great service.
The cabin was fine. A little bit rough around the edges but 90 percent of the time we where not in it. Just a place to shower, change, and sleep.
Very informative however rushed toward then.
