Chose this cruise because I wanted to visit Spain, Italy and France in a relaxed atmosphere. Expected that the food and the service would be above average because it was Norwegian and believed NCL would provide an experience that exceeded my expectations, unfortunately, I was wrong and disappointed. The service, in both main dining areas, The Taste and The Manhattan, was subpar. The menu’s were virtually the same evert night, with a few minor changes. The wait staff was neither attentive nor prompt. We missed the great meals of previous cruises...the formal dinner service that included shrimp and lobster, etc. We wanted a relaxed atmosphere but we didn’t realize that meant poor service and limited food choices. We dined at two speciality restaurants; The Shanghai and the Moderno. The Shanghai was just ok, however Moderno, the Brazilian restaurant, was outstanding in both food quality and service. Would also add that the staff at the Atrium bar was outstanding. However, it would have been nice if all bars had blenders, so you could get your drink of choice anywhere. Spa services...(had the Bamboo massage and purchased access to ‘The Wave’?) were excellent as was the fitness center. Disembarkation was extremely smooth and took very little time. We arrived in Barcelona a couple days early and would encourage travelers to arrive days before embarkation, to enjoy the city. Also, make time to explore Florence, aside from the tours. If you’re a shopper, you’ll fall in love with the city.

Mini-Suite with Balcony
Cabin MD 10255
Cabin was in need of refurbishing. Carpet and cover on sofa/bed needed to be replaced and drapery was not attached in one corner. Cabin was not ready when we boarded. When we were allowed to enter, we notice that there were numerous fingerprints on closet/cabinet doors, indicative of a rush job to get it ready. Also, the design of the mini suite didn’t allow for much privacy. Would have been nice if the curtain also separated the sink from beds and common areas.
