MSC Yacht Club - Fantasia

This review is for YACHT CLUB on the FANTASIA. Different ships and a different “experience” (that is how MSC refers to their different levels of service) may be quite different. Keep in mind our only previous cruising experience has been Concierge Class on the Celebrity Silhouette.

Overall: MSC touts Yacht Club as a ship within a ship, and it certainly is that. From the moment we arrived at port to the moment we disembarked we were looked after by our personal butler. We never stood in a line or searched for a lounge chair or a place to sit.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We stayed here four nights pre-cruise. Lovely vibrant city. Four days not enough time.

Corsica (Ajaccio)

Easy walk from port. Nice beach, also an easy walk.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Although we didn't take an excursion we did take the MSC bus which was very nice. with reserved seats for YC. We found a small group fast-track tour outside the Colosseum which was fabulous. Gladiator Tours- highly recommend, ask for Elaine! Rome is huge and there is so much to see. We were glad we opted for a small, yet in depth tour instaed of trying to do it all. Next time!

La Spezia (Cinque Terre)

Charming little town and the train station is an easy 25 minute walk. Once there you can purchase a 5 town train ticket -Cinque de terre- which also includes the price of the bus to access the sixth village. You will not have enough time to do it all with the amount of time allotted for this stop, even if you are first off the ship. So pick and choose and remember not to cut it too close coming back as the trains may be crowded and you may not get on.

Genoa

There is a shuttle from ship out of port area, but well organized. Then you will have a very long walk to reach the part of Genoa you will want to see. Keep right until you are past the aquarium. To your left you will see crowds of people going up a hill. Follow the crowds but always keep right. Do not venture left or you will find yourself in some very shady areas. We took the HOHO bus fro the center plaza in Genoa and it was very pleasant. Genoa is beautiful and interesting and the HOHO bus will take you back to the port so you avoid the long walk back.

Cannes

Very pretty. Easy walking. Nice shops and nice selection of restaurants.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

This was our favourite. Very beautiful and so much to see. I would recommend a site-seeing tour. Its a big city. There are e-bikes for rent equipped with GPS right at the port. Its a long walk from port to town, but we did it lol
