We sailed on 2 loops- eastern and western Caribbean, 2 weeks total. My wife and I in a suite, our 2 daughters age 25 and 30 in an interior room. Our room was nice, theirs pretty basic, but adequate. Food prep and presentation were good, but Carnival is cutting corners everywhere. "Scallops" turned out to be compressed fish pellets- never offered as an entree, just in mixed seafood dishes, like we wouldn't notice. "Chateaubriand" turned out to be sirloin tri-tip cut into angled slices to resemble the shape of tenderloin. Other than sushi, which was sub-standard, the chefs did a good job with what they were given to work with, and service was fine in the dining rooms, probably because the mass of passengers were swarming the Lido, which was crowded and often overwhelmed. The scene at the big pool was spring break for grown-ups, with a few kids thrown in. The giant screen was sort of cool for the Superbowl, which took place on our first loop, but the rest of the time was more of a distraction. If the TV in your house is always on LOUD, even when you are trying to read a book, have a conversation, or take a nap, then Liberty is for you. Frequently, a reggae or Jimmy Buffet style band would play out there, and the scene went from around 80db (very loud) to about 95db (deafening- literally. The pool should come with a warning sticker about hearing loss). Just walking the length of the deck is enough to leave you with ringing in your ears. Needless to say, we sat at the other pool. If you smoke, this is your ship- all the cabins and balconies, and all starboard deck areas allow smoking, as do nearly all the bars. (many advertised as non-smoking are contiguous with smoking areas; in some, one half of the bar has ashtrays, the other half non-smoking signs.) The restaurants and theatre are smoke-free. As for two loops- the Carnival rep assured me that the entertainment did not repeat- they lied. All the shows on the second loop were identical to the first. Also, on returning to Miami, we were forced to leave the ship, go thru customs, and wait in the terminal for an hour and a half before re-boarding, (and we had VIP boarding passes). Also, we were forced to re-enter all the data for the second loop- next of kin, passport info, address, etc., for each one of us. Nothing in the computer transferred. On Holland America in August we did two loops and didn't do any paperwork, or even get off the ship. They just said "welcome back".

Cabin Review

7263 standard suite- overall nice

9205 suite- not as nice- smaller balcony, and adjacent suite balcony juts out giving people there a direct view into the room. Also, not quite as well appointed.

8361- basic interior- small, adequate, clean.
