Part of a group of two Australian couples, we were looking forward to this cruise as something a little different. (This is our 6th cruise)
This was the second of a back-to-back cruise holiday. The first cruise also on the Breakaway (Russia & Scandinavia from Copenhagen) was fraught with problems so we were hoping for a better experience.
Our planned 5pm departure came and went and at 5:20pm the Captain (who now elicits a groan from many who were on the previous cruise) announced that departure would be delayed a ‘few’ hours as a ‘couple’ of passengers were on a delayed flight from JFK airport.
Cabin is close to many of the eateries but we did not hear any noise. The room was quite soundproof.
Our attendant was fantastic and the room was regularly and well-maintained.
It is very similar to other similar ships in layout. Though a drawer and chair would have been nice.
The bed is close to the balcony. Our preferred configuration and it gives more room - and you can watch the world go by from bed.
A pretty city but it was raining most of the time.
Note; catching the train to the the port is not a good idea if you don't like a long, long walk.
A cab ride from the city is expensive. We took a train part of the way and caught a cab.
A USD$15/person bus ride will take you into Gothenburg. A pretty city to walk around
Lots to see walking distance from the port
So much to see so little time - a must for a longer visit
A picture perfect isolated corner of the world. Take the carriage ride! 10 Euro/person
What a wonderful town.
The hop on hop off is ok but a slow way to see NY. Next time we would plan where we won't to go and use the subway.
