Sail Date: Jan 2010

To celebrate my birthday, we booked with Carnival on the last minute. I would say we really did get a good deal on the cruise rate, taking consideration that we booked a week and a half to sailing date. We even got the price change credit and got upgraded to a better room. Initially, we were book for a guaranteed room but as soon I received the edocs, they assigned us to the 8th Floor. When the price changed the following day, I made the call and they gave us the rate adjustment as a room credit. The best part, we got upgraded to the Spa Cabins (with Spa Amenities) at no charge.

Overall, the Splendor is well maintained and clean. At least we didn't have any problems on the bathrooms as we did on our last cruise with RCL last October 09. The room stewards are very nice, polite and friendly. When we got into our room on embarkation day, the room stewards were not completely done cleaning it but they talked to us in a very apologetic way. We just left our carry-on and went to the Lido deck.

The buffet at the Lido is good. At lunch time, one can enjoy either a burrito or a rotisserie or the best they have, Mongolian. There are also sandwiches, tandoori, pizza and burger available. On our numerous previous cuises, make sure that I eat at the Restuarants, but this time, because of the Mongolian, we stick with going to the buffet. It was more fun anyway because we met and talked to the Splendor Singers and Dancers.

Cabin Review

Cabin 10S

We've always booked our cabins to be on the highest floor because of the noise (based on previous experiences). Being on the 10th floor, we thought is not bad, because the spa is above us. We had the same exact location aboard RCCL and we liked it so we took the assigned cabin. It was a mistake - at 12 midnight to 4am, someone is dragging chairs on the spa! When I asked Kent, the Spa Manager, he told us that no one is inside the spa during that time and that he was telling us to call security next time. I asked the room steward and I was told someone is cleaning the spa - and instead of him carrying the tables and chairs, he/she is dragging them and creating that noise. Other than the noise when you're sleeping...... it's good!
