This was my first cruise with Norwegian. Others I have been on are Royal Caribbean and Carnival. Each line has its pluses and minuses and as on any cruise, how much fun you have depends on what you choose to do and your attitude. Norwegian takes extra steps to make sure everything is clean--including passenger hands as everywhere you go there are hand sanitizer dispensers and/or people with spray bottles spraying your hands and shouting out "washy washy happy happy." You might think that would get to be annoying, but it wasn't--instead it made us smile every time. Embarkation was similar to other cruise lines--drop off your luggage with the porter, wait in line for a few minutes at most, check your papers, get your key card, picture taken, washy washy and wait for the announcement that your room is ready while getting your lunch at the buffet and exploring the ship. The ship is only a few years old with a mixture of fun and classy in its decor. Cabins have refrigerators, safes, hair dryers and soap/shampoo dispensers. This was our first time with a balcony and we loved it! The sunsets from our room were beautiful as were the early mornings sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee and beautiful scenery. We agree with other reviewers who reported that the food was not as good as found on other cruise lines, but there are plenty of choices and we did like the idea of not having to stick to a time schedule for meals. We found the entertainment to be much better than Carnival and slightly better than Royal Caribbean. The group Oh What A Night (Four Seasons music) was outstanding. Sharkbait (comedy/juggling etc.) was also excellent, as was the Second City Group. The dancers and the comedian were ok. We also enjoyed the Quest game for adults and the comedy games for couples which were about the same as we've seen elsewhere. They also had a good Dancing with the Stars take off that was quite fun. Bingo was not as efficiently run as it could have been, but fun nevertheless. Coral World in St. Thomas was a nice excursion. The beach at Great Stirrup Cay was nice and included a huge water slide. Disembarkation was very, very easy--no assigned places to have to wait. Keeping with the freestyle way of cruising, you basically pick the time you want to get off the ship and choose the corresponding luggage color coded tag the night before, rather than have it assigned to you as other cruise lines do. If you decide to carry off your own luggage you could leave as soon as the ship was cleared for disembarkation. We chose to take the option of sending our bags directly to the airport which worked very well for us. Overall it was a great cruise and the staff was friendly and professional.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

Good location--slightly aft and not too far from elevators. Did not feel cramped. Three drawers, several shelves and good size closet for clothes. Very nice bathroom. Small couch and desk. Very comfortable beds. Refrigerator, coffee maker, and storage safe nice pluses. Balcony great.
