We have a varied cruising history choosing destinations rather than a particular company. However this cruise has on one hand fulfilled two really good destinations in Italy. At the same disappointing us on several levels. One as we have mentioned above witnessed quite a few people in shorts and uncollared t shirts in the main dining venues at night. This was unfair on the people who follow the dress code stated in the brochure. Two RCI are using every opportunity to squeeze every penny out of the fare paying passengers who have already paid a fare price for the service expected. Three it seems to me that the ship was overcrowded because the company are inviting guests to pay a very small amount for cruising losing the ethos of how a cruise should be. The extra rooms have lead to overcrowding in all public areas.we were really looking forward to going on independence having heard lots of good reports but sadly was let down by the above combination of events. Therefore next time we will bypass the independence and any other refurbished ships with more rooms added.
