This cruise was choosen for its itinary, especialy Iceland for 2 nights. Being in late september, we experienced all temperatures: sunny and warm in Southampton, cloudy and cold in the Shetlands, snowing and freezing then sunny and freezing in Reykjavick, then, it was mainly sunny and getting warmer for the rest of the cruise, ending with hot and sunny in Miami. But, the waters also changed from calm, to very "bumpy with waves of 23 feet", and then calm again... We certainly appreciate the Captain beeing very calm and even funny when giving us his daily report!
We are usualy more "buffet" than restaurants, but on the Jade, we ended up taking almost all our meals in restaurants... the buffet is small, has only few choices. Restaurants, free and $$, are easy to go and/or to make reservations. Crew members always try to help us if/when we had a problem.
We explored the city of Crawley (Gatwick) where our hotel (Arora) was, just near the train station. The back door of the hotel opens directly on the train platform, which is very convenient when ready to take the train to Southampton Central Station, or when you want to go to the Mall accross the street.
Nice cabin, clean and everything in order. Very big shower space, but small toilet space. Liquid soap, shampoo and lotion are provided, and also a hair dryer. We appreciated the sofa near the patio door. The storage (closet) area is large enough, but the 3 drawers open too easily.... we had to use tape for them to stay closed when ocean was very "bumpy". The safe is high, which we appreciated, us being tall, but for a smaller person, it could be too high. The buttons on the safe doors are hard to press, but work...
9th floor is good : 2 floors above restaurants and 1 or 3 floors under O'Sheehan's and buffet... so, easy to take the stairs instead of elevators.
