We chose this cruise because of the exciting, port intensive, Baltic Sea itinerary ~ round trip from Copenhagen, Denmark, with stops scheduled for Warnemunde/Rostock, Germany, Tallinn, Estonia, St. Petersburg, Russia (overnight/2 days), Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden. We decided to also book the following 14 day Transatlantic cruise from Copenhagen to New York City with ports of Gothenburg, Sweden (changed from the original Amsterdam, which was a disappointment), Southampton, England. Cobh/Cork Ireland and Ponta Delgada, Azores. We were on Breakaway a total of 23 days for the back to back cruises.

I had reservations about sailing on such a large ship that accommodated so many passengers and crew because we had only sailed on smaller ships previously. The scheduled outstanding itinerary on the Baltics portion won us over, plus we had only called at Southampton, so the Transatlantic portion ports were new to us.

We arrived in Copenhagen, a VERY expensive city, just one day before we were scheduled to sail. Due to jet lag and general travel exhaustion, we stayed in our centrally located hotel, Scandic Palace, and didn't explore the city. The following morning, we took a taxi to the Oceankaj Cruise Port, which is a considerable distance from the center. Our taxi ran us about $45 USD.
